Watershed Education

In 2002 we started a youth education program that introduces young people to watersheds, water quality and the creatures that live on, in, and under the Cooks Creek. The centerpiece of the program is our annual “mini-monster mayhem” workshop where we entertain youth and their parents in a half-day workshop that explains the hydrologic cycle, the importance of conserving water, and the impacts of pollution in a fun, interactive way. We then take them to the creek and show them all the life that is in there when you know how to look for it. While the workshop is primarily designed for elementary students, it has been modified for high school aged students and adults and presented at various environmental programs and festivals over the years.
